Windstar's ships are officially masted-sail-yachts (msy), but the designation belies the vessels unique rigging. Unfurling in two minutes at the push of a button, billowing white sails reach to the sky. All functions are operated from the bridge by computer micro-chips and navigational devices. The unusual "open-bridge" operation allows guests to drop by and acquaint themselves with the veteran captains and officers who demonstrate the ship's intriguing capabilities to modern day explorers.

The casino is open on most afternoons and evening when the ship is at sail. The friendly staff aboard will assure that guests have a fun and exciting time while gaming onboard. They are happy to share tips on winning in black jack and poker.

Watersports Deck
The watersports deck is the perfect place for those who are looking to enjoy the playground that is the sea. All activities are included and guests have the choice of kayaking, windsurfing, water skiing, snorkeling, sailing, banana boat rides, and swimming.

Scuba Diving Lessons
The onboard scuba diving lessons are taught by dive-masters who are PADI certified. The Discover Scuba Diving program for beginners includes a simple, comprehensive classroom and pool session. After that, beginners can sign up for designated dives. Experienced divers need to bring their certification card and can accompany the dive masters on all dives offered.

Dining

Dining aboard Windstar is, in a word, extraordinary. It begins at sunrise with coffee and croissants set out on deck and goes late into the evening, capped off with a cognac from the Pool Bar. The airy Veranda Restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch, where dining is inside or al fresco under the shade of huge sun umbrellas. On the menu for breakfast: a bounty of freshly baked breads and local tropical fruits, smoothies, waffles, and omelettes made-to-order. Lunch might be Asian satay or grilled quesadillas with papaya and black bean salsa.

At sunset the spotlight shifts to dinner and the delicious possibilities ahead. The Signature menus were created exclusively for Windstar by celebrity chefs, with an emphasis on local flavors and a dash of imagination and surprise.

This spirit of freshness and creativity extends beyond food. There are no formal seating assignments in The Restaurant, no need for a jacket or tie. All guests have to bring is their appetite and high expectations; each evening is a celebration of fine wine and cuisine at its best.
