Accommodations

On average, Holland America Lines staterooms are 25 percent larger than on other ships in its category, giving guests more room to stretch out. All staterooms include self-controlled air conditioning; a telephone and closed circuit TV; luxurious soaps, shampoos and lotions; music channel system; and 24-hour complimentary room service. As well, as a part of Holland America Lines Signature of Excellence program.

Suites
Suites feature a bedroom with king-size bed and master bath including oversize whirlpool tub. Complete with dressing room, living room, dining room, pantry and private verandah, guest toilet, VCR, mini-bar, and refrigerator.

Verandah Suite
Verandah Suites feature floor-to-ceiling windows lead to a private verandah spacious enough for lounging or dining. Included as well is a queen-size bed, whirlpool bath, sitting area, VCR, mini-bar and refrigerator.

Outside Staterooms
Large Outside Staterooms have convertible queen-size beds and bath/shower combinations.

Inside Staterooms
Standard Inside Staterooms have lower beds which are convertible to one queen-size bed. Each includes a private bath with shower.

For those feeling athletic, there are pools for swimming and decks for strolling. Exercise classes (yoga, Pilates, kickboxing, water aerobics), deck games and dual-purpose tennis/volleyball courts offer more fun.

For guests who love to golf, Holland America is fully prepared. In addition to golf excursions on shore, guests of ms Oosterdam, ms Prinsendam, ms Westerdam and ms Zuiderdam may rent clubs and equipment on board and get personalized lessons from professional instructors. Instruction includes a state-of-the-art, computer-aided coaching system to help you perfect your swing.

Quiet Time
For quieter moments, guests can visit the library or join a game of bridge in the card room, or enjoy conversation with new friends over an espresso. Just as the intriguing shops in the day's port of call fade into the horizon, a whole new world of shopping opens on board Holland America Line ships. Shop the onboard boutiques for duty-free treasures, including French fragrances and Swiss watches, fine liqueurs and designer goods.

Guests onboard can choose the blissful pampering of a facial or let the trained fingers of a massage therapist work fragrant oils into their skin, soothing your muscles. They can also enjoy therapeutic water treatments as they steam in a sauna or bathe in exotic herbs. Spas on board Holland America Line ships feature the beauty and wellness rituals of the renowned Steiner Leisure. With everything from the hydrotherapy pool to hair and nail care, our spas and salons leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

Casinos
When the ships are at sea, the casino lights up for gaming enthusiasts. Guests can try their luck in the casino at the slot machines and blackjack tables, at dice and on the roulette wheel or in a game of Caribbean stud poker. And after 11 p.m. the Mega-Slot Tournament begins. The stewards will keep glasses filled with champagne while guests try to fill the slots with three of a kind.

Dining

Holland America Line serves incomparable cuisine in a variety of wonderful ways from bountiful buffets and dress-up dinners to hors d'oeuvres on your verandah and a picnic on the beach.

They offer the most extensive menus at sea (with more than 500 different food items on a typical 7-day cruise), blending together modern Continental cuisine, regional specialties appropriate to each cruising area and traditional favorites. Their chefs are all members of the prestigious Confrerie de la Chaine des Rotisseurs gourmet society.

In addition to breakfast, lunch and a five-course dinner, guests can enjoy: afternoon tea; a stir-fry or pasta buffet; an ice cream bar; hot hors d'oeuvres during the cocktail hours; an evening espresso or cappuccino; and the traditional late-night snack. Or, try the Terrace Grill, located outside, featuring hamburgers and hot dogs as well as a taco bar and a daily special. And, of course, complimentary room service is available 24 hours a day. Casual dining is available in the Lido Restaurant every night.

Luxury dining options in the Pinnacle Grill, featuring the highest quality meat and fish, is available on all ships except the ms Noordam. Reservations may be made on board by contacting the restaurant manager. There will be a minimal restaurant charge. Suite guests have reservation preference.

Cruising with Family

With supervised fun for younger guests, the entire family can have the vacation of their dreams. Club HAL provides a wide variety of exciting activities for kids ages 5 to 12. Participating youngsters receive an activity program delivered to their stateroom and a Club HAL t-shirt.

Club HAL activities are designed to be age appropriate. Examples include storytelling, arts and crafts, ice-cream sundae or pizza parties, ship tours and bingo for the little ones (ages 5 to 8). For 'tweens (ages 9 to 12) there's miniature golf, Ping-Pong, theme parties, on-deck sports events and scavenger hunts.

Select itineraries even offer "kids-only" shore excursions to Half Moon Cay (our private island in the Bahamas) and exploratory adventures in several Alaskan ports of call.
